Roger’s High School Athletic Schedule

May 2
Glitter Critter, the Potter League’s fundraising sequin jewelry sale begins.  The sale will be held from 10-4 everyday through May 6.

Sachuest point in Middletown welcomes budding artist  to come get creative.  Bag lunches encouraged. 10am – 1pm.

Chess Group at Empire Tea and Coffee.  Begging at 7:30, come square off with other Chess enthusiasts.  Matches run until 10pm.

May 3
Every Thursday at 5pm, Shakespeare lovers gather together to read the works of Shakespeare aloud in the Carpenter Board Room at the Redwood Library.  Free for members or $2 for non-members.

May 4
View the Planet Earth series: Deep Ocean at Sacheust Point Visitors Center. 6pm.

Middletown High School Drama Club presents The Man Who Came to Dinner at 8pm in the Cafetorium.  $5 entry fee.  Also May 5.

Newport Community Symphonic Band and Jazz Ensemble presents La Fiesta Mexicana  at the Casino Theater.  $8 adults/$5 seniors and students.

The Beat Goes On offers free kettleball/yoga classes to teens. Registration begins at 9:30am and continues through May 9.

May 5
Redwood Poets Group is inviting new members.  Join them if you are a poet currently writing and seeking critique.

May 6
Aquidneck Island National Police Parade kicks off at 11:50, rain or shine.  The parade travels down West Main road from Middletown to Washington Square.

Redwood Library presents a free musical program with Saprano Andrea Gregoiri.  3pm.

SRU musical groups will perform at Ochre Court at 3pm.  $8 adults/$5 seniors and students.

May 9
Chess Group at Empire Tea and Coffee.  Begging at 7:30, come square off with other Chess enthusiasts.  Matches run until 10pm.

Morale, Welfare & Recreation (MWR) is having a teen hire event at 4 p.m. at the Teen Center, Building 1297 for summer jobs at CYP and throughout MWR.  Teen jobs are paid $7.40 an hour are open to 14 through 17 year olds who are dependents of active duty military, Department of Defense Civilians and Contractors and will last 12 weeks.  As part of the program, teens have a chance to participate in a three day conference in Washington, DC.  For more information, call Gina Petrone at 841-2883.

Newport Navy Choristers are present Proudly We Sing at St. Lucy’s Church, 7:30pm.

May 12
The Newport Run for Education 5k kicks off at 9pm from Roger’s High School.

Redwood Library presents a free musical program with pianist I-Heung playing Chopin, Liszt, Schumann and Bach.  3pm.

May 13
… is Mother’s Day.  Do something nice for mom.

Volunteering

Do you love animals and enjoy working with them? Try out the Potter League in Middletown.
