The Friends of the Newport Public Library are dedicated to raising funds in support of the mission of the library.
Fundraising is done through
- the Friends Bookstore – located in the library’s lower lobby
- eBay sales – of unique and higher-value books
- three annual Book Sales.
The Friends Bookstore was named one of Newport’s Best Kept Secrets by Newport Life Magazine.

- Children’s programs
- Reference collections
The Friends also runs the Friends Bookstore. Volunteer opportunities are many – including
- Staffing the Bookstore
- Sorting and pricing books
- Helping with special book sales
