For many years, the Newport Public Library has maintained a free program to bring library materials into the homes, retirement facilities, and residential rehabilitation centers of Newport residents.
The program is open to individuals who, due to age or disability, can no longer visit the main library. Each participant has their own Ocean State Library card and is entitled to full library services. Appointment visits are done twice monthly and set up to work for each individual.
A variety of items are available under the program and include both new and old fiction and nonfiction titles, large print books, audio books, DVD feature and travel films, Blu-Ray films, a variety of magazines from the library’s periodical collection, reservations on new titles and inter-library loan requests.
For more information about either the Bookmobile or Special Needs Services, please contact program coordinator Mary O’Neill-Barrett at 847-8720 Ext 115 or email her at mbarrett@newportlibraryri.org .
