Welcome Aboard the Newport Library Bookmobile!

The Newport Library Bookmobile has been a part of the community life of Newport for more than 40 years. Staffed by Mary M. O’Neill-Barrett, coordinator, and Kelly McKenna, driver/assistant, they are happy to sign you up for a bestseller, help you find a particular book, a special DVD, or the latest in audiobooks or paperbacks.
This “library on wheels” provides library services to adults, teens and children.
The Bookmobile’s year round schedule brings library services right into your neighborhood. We have 17 weekly stops, spanning the entire city. (See our Schedule of Stops for specific times and dates.)
The Bookmobile gladly provides pick-up, drop-off and check-out services for all library items, including materials being returned from other Ocean State Libraries.
Onboard: The Bookmobile staff will register adults, teens and even the very youngest reader for a library card (with the appropriate ID and/or parent’s signature) or do replacement cards for patrons (available for a small $1.00 fee).
Bookmobile staff will process any and all interlibrary loan requests for materials from other public libraries in Rhode Island and even from libraries outside our state. The will also place a hold for you on popular bestsellers, DVDs, or audiobooks that are currently in the Ocean State Library system.
