Adult Summer Reading Challenge

Welcome to the 2012 Summer Reading Challenge for adults: the best incentive you’ll find for sitting down with a great book this summer. Here’s how it works:

  • This year we are asking readers to read six books in six weeks (from July 2 through August 11).
  • All who sign up will receive a free gift (while supplies last; limit one per patron).
  • Those who register and read at least one book qualify for weekly gift certificates to the Friends of the Newport Public Library bookstore
  • Those who complete six books by August 11 will be entered into the grand prize drawing

To participate in the Summer Reading Challenge you have to be a grown up (over 18), have a library card, and be able to enjoy plowing through six books in six weeks. If that sounds like you, stop by the reference desk to sign up between June 18 and August 11, or register online after June 18.

If you register online, don’t forget to stop by in person to pick up your free coupons. We also have an official reading log where you can record your six books, or you can follow this link to print your own. But remember: only books read after July 2nd count!
