Due to the coming storm, Newport Public Library will close today, January 26th, at 4pm.

We will remain closed Tuesday (Jan. 27th) and Wednesday (Jan. 28th) all day.

Doors will re-open Thursday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.

Check out the 3M Cloud Library- a free source of eBooks.  The Cloud Library is only for those with a Newport Public Library card.

Book Talk with Gloria Merchant

Gloria MerchantIn Pirates of Colonial Newport, Gloria Merchant delves into the fascinating history of Newport’s pirates from Thomas Tew and Captain Kidd’s buried treasure to the largest mass hanging of pirates in the colonies at Gravelly Point. Author Merchant will be discussing her book on Thursday, January 29 at 7:00pm. No registration is required.

Teen Movie – Miracle

MiracleSaturday – January 31 – 2:30pm – Program Room

Spend the afternoon enjoying pizza and a movie with your friends.   Make personalized, permanent coffee mug holders and watch  Miracle – the story of the 1980 Olympic  Hockey Team (all amateurs) defeating the Soviet Team (who had won 6 of the last 7 Olympic gold medals) and Team Finland to win the gold for the US.  It is considered by many Americans to be “the greatest moment in sports history”.

Gilded Age Tea returns

Gilded Age Tea  Saturday, February 7th from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Please join us for a fabulous Gilded Age Tea, to benefit the Newport Public Library, at the Hotel Viking.

Tea includes wonderful sandwiches, pastries and a glass of champagne!

$28.00 per person;  reservations are required and may be made by calling the Viking Hotel at 401-848-4824.
