Exciting News about eBooks

Revival by Stephen KingAs of November 2014, all of the “big six” publishers now permit their titles to be sold to libraries! Before this, there were publishers who refused libraries this access and we were not able to purchase certain best-selling eBooks for our patrons because of this ban. So enjoy these new titles from Simon and Schuster, the last hold-out!

 

 

 

 

Library Closings for the Holidays

Christmas tree The library will close

  • all day Wednesday and Thursday, December 24th and 25th,
  • all day Wednesday and Thursday, December 31st and January 1st.
  • The library will also be closed on Sunday, December 28th.

In the meantime, you can download an eBook or audiobook; view a movie or read a magazine – right from the comfort of your own home.  All you need is an Internet connection and a library card.

Check out the 3M Cloud Library- a free source of eBooks.  The Cloud Library is only for those with a Newport Public Library card.

Also check out the Overdrive eZone (which also offers audiobooks and streaming video) for anyone with a card from a Rhode Island public library.

January 17th at 2:00 p.m. – Lizzie Stark, author of Pandora’s DNA: Tracing the Breast Cancer Gene Through History, Science and One Family Tree.

January 24th at 2:00 p.m. – Nicholas Dawidoff, author of Collision Low Crossers: A Year Inside the Turbulent World of NFL Football.
