Library will close July 28th and 29th

Under constructionThe library will be closed all day on Monday, July 28th and Tuesday, July 29th for renovations.

  • Children’s programs scheduled for those days will be held in the lower level program room at the scheduled times.
  • The Teen “Take-apart” program scheduled for Monday will be held at 3:00 p.m., also in the lower lever program room. (This is a different time than originally planned.)

All participants must enter through the Spring Street entrance.

Summer Hours will resume on Wednesday, July 30th.

Teen Summer Fun

Teens 13-18 (or students entering 7th grade) are invited to some great summer reading events:

Do you love to write? Or want to learn how to do it a little better? Join us Thursday, July 24 @ 3pm for a Writers Workshop with renowned local author Kathryn Kulpa – We will do some fun and creative exercises in different forms, with an emphasis on short stories and flash fiction. Ms. Kulpa can also answer any questions about writing and publishing that you may have!

 

Wondering what’s inside? Come Take it Apart, Monday, July 28 @ 3pm.  (This is a time change from the original 5pm.)  Enter the library using the Spring Street Entrance and proceed directly to the program room.  The upper floor will be closed for construction.

Film Series: Hitchcock

NotoriousThe Newport Public Library Film Series returns in July and August with four classic films directed by the incomparable Alfred Hitchcock. Filmed between 1945 and 1951, these films feature an astonishing assemblage of actors including Cary Grant, Ingrid Bergman, Marlene Dietrich, and Gregory Peck. Librarian and film buff Luke Owens will introduce the films.

All screenings are free and open to the public, and begin at 2:30PM. Check our calendar for more info.
