Course: Introduction to HTML and CSS
Description: HTML and CSS are markup languages that form the building blocks of the web. In this course you will learn how to convert digital design mockups into static web pages. Specifically, you will learn how to approach page layout, how to break down a design mockup into page elements, and how to implement that structure and design in HTML and CSS. No prior programming experience required!
This is a guided MOOC. Think of a guided MOOC as a kind of learning circle, a facilitated study group for people who want to take online courses – with other people in a face-to-face setting. A reference librarian will be present to help support your learning experience. Why sign-up? You’ll get a support group for learning, access to new studying strategies, dedicated weekly study time and space, a network of co-learners, and the ability to learn in a low pressure environment.
Registration is required. Visit the registration page to sign up!
Email Basics and Beyond: Join our workshops to become comfortable using this valuable tool. We will utilize the Gmail platform and tour the tools, learn how to compose, send and reply. (Most features apply to other web-based email platforms.)
In our second workshop we will go beyond the basics and learn how to organize folders, insert photos, unsubscribe and send attachments.
Registration required, free and open to the public. Call 847-8720 x 208 to sign up for a free gmail account before the start of class if you do not have one already. If you have an existing account remember to bring your user name and password to class.
