URI Master Gardener Bill Baddeley will discuss the benefits of compost in the garden, outdoor composting methods, compostable materials and principles. Free and open to all. No registration is required.
Bill has been making compost in backyard bins since 1981 and he completed the master gardener program in 2014. At home, he raises vegetables in straw-bale plots, keeps bees, keeps an organic fruit orchard, and generally enjoys trying new plants and experimenting. In addition, he works with a small team making compost at the URI Extension Master Gardeners’ Produce Donation Garden in Roger Williams Park. He does soil testing around the state and gives talks on soil health, plant nutrition and pH.
